The new release in the Palgrave series in Asian and German Studies „Religious Entanglements Between Germans and Indians, 1800-1945“, edited by Isabella Schwaderer and Gerdien Jonker, addresses Religion as a form of cultural expression constitutes a critical element in the relationship between Germany and India.
Several contributions in this book draw on preliminary work and materials from the Menaka-Archive.
In particular, in the chapter „Curating the Fragments of Local Modernities: The Menaka Digital Archive from the Perspective of Ongoing Research“, the authors Markus Schlaffke, Isabella Schwaderer and Parveen Kanhai summarise their collaborative work on the Menaka-Archive, and delve into corresponding research fields to produce a surprising cross-cultural encounter that presents the disparate archival materials in a new light.
